It’s been an exciting couple of weeks at Poultry Hub Australia. Key events
We have locked in a number of key events for the year and the entire PHA team was able to travel to the recent PIX AMC 2022 event. It was great to see so many people from the poultry industry on the Gold Coast and to chat with them about all things chickens.
We were part of the trade display, sharing a stand with both Australian Eggs and AgriFutures under the banner ‘Chook Chat Shack’. We also showcased our virtual chicken – providing attendees a chance to see inside both a layer and a meat chicken.
The conference was fantastic and showcased a great mix of speakers and panel presentations. The opening address from Michael McQueen was thought-provoking – I learnt what smiley-face emojis mean and reflected on the top three things that will most definitely have an impact on our industry. Key events
- These were:
- The acceleration of artificial intelligence
- The age of empowerment
- The post-millennial era.
These three areas were dubbed the ‘new now’ and certainly had the audience thinking. When asked which one I thought would have the most impact, I couldn’t separate them and came to the conclusion that they will all have a huge effect on the industry. I must add that I will need to start doing some research to make sure I am prepared!
The PHA team had the pleasure of coordinating a young industry delegate program at the conference. The program was designed to enable young people working in the poultry industry to come to the conference to learn and to make connections.
Eight delegates from across Australia were part of the group of young people who attended sessions, met with industry leaders and enjoyed the social functions.
I had the chance to meet all of the delegates and was very impressed with the passion they had for the industry and their commitment to seeing the sector grow and prosper into the future.
The delegates remarked at how great it was to meet other young people in the industry and also to see both the trade displays and to participate in the sector workshops.
I wish all of the delegates well with their careers and look forward to hearing how they progress over the coming years.
Ideas Exchange has been booked in for mid-October in Melbourne.
We are looking forward to catching up with you in person finally, to share our great achievements and also exchange new ideas for the future of the industry.
Ideas Exchange is a great avenue for industry personnel and researchers to come together to develop relationships and collaborations that benefit the entire industry. Registration for the conference is by invitation only, so if you are interested in attending or want to find out more, contact us at poultry hub@une.edu.au
