QFF appoints new CEO and president
LEADING Queens- land’s intensive, semi- intensive and irrigated agriculture industries in- to a sustainable, produc- tive and profitable future will be the focus of the Queensland Farmers’ Federation’s new leader- ship team.
Dr Georgina Davis has been appointed chief ex- ecutive officer as outgoing CEO Travis Tobin moves onto new challenges with the Cattle Council of Aus- tralia in Canberra.
Allan Dingle has tran- sitioned from his role as QFF vice president and
taken over the reins from president Stuart Armitage who is returning to his cotton farm on the Dar- ling Downs.
Beginning her new role as QFF CEO in mid- November, Dr Georgina Davis brings 25 years of experience to the position.
“Advocating on behalf of and representing QFF’s more than 13,000 primary producers across Queens- land is a significant re- sponsibility as farmers face the cumulative ef- fects of significant im- pacts on their businesses,” Dr Davis said.
“I look forward to sup- porting and striving for a better deal for Queens- land’s farmers and high- lighting the exceptional
quality of the food, fibre and foliage they produce and the amenity they pro- vide.”
The QFF presidency is another feather in the cap for Allan Dingle who farms sugarcane, soy- beans and fodder crops on his 230ha irrigated prop- erty at Bundaberg.
Allan was appointed a director of QFF in 2014 and has been the vice president since 2017.
Allan has also served on several other regional and state level boards includ- ing CANEGROWERS, Bundaberg Regional Ir- rigators Group, the Bun- daberg Grain and Cane Co-op and the Bundaberg District Groundwater Ad- visory Committee.
“Queensland’s farmers havealottobeproudofas they provide the highest- quality produce for people at home in Australia and many more around the world,” Mr Dingle said.
“I appreciate this oppor- tunity to further represent my fellow farmers as QFF collaborates with indus- try, government and the community to overcome existing challenges and realise the opportunities for the future of the state’s agriculture sector.”
The new leadership team thanked Mr Tobin and Mr Armitage for their expertise, commitment and valuable contributions to the success of QFF dur- ing their time as CEO and president respectively.
EW Group acquires controlling stake in Specialised Breeders Australia
GERMANY’S EW Group GmbH and Specialised Breeders Australia have reached an agreement for EW Group to acquire a controlling stake in SBA.
EW Group is a hold- ing company for the world’s leading poul- try genetics companies including Hy-Line In- ternational, Lohmann Tierzucht, H&N, Avia- gen and Hubbard.
SBA is the leading supplier of day-old chicks and point of lay pullets to Australian egg producers.
SBA’s Chief Financial Officer Steve Garland said, “SBA has been the Australian distri- bution partner for EW Group subsidiaries Hy- Line International and Lohmann Tierzucht for many years, so this acquisition is a strong strategic fit for both or-
ganisations.”

EW Group will foster even greater co-oper- ation between our lo- cal technical team and international breed sup- pliers, ensuring Aus- tralian egg producers receive the most up-to- date technical advice from abroad combined with our expertise in Australian conditions.”
Managing Director of EW Group international layer distribution activi- ties Albert Cordts said, “We are excited about SBA becoming part of EW Group, as it is an exceptional operation with a reputation for providing high-quality livestock and advice in the Australian market.”

The transaction was completed at the end of
October and the terms of the sale will remain private.
